Its seems fairly clear to me, but what the hell would I know.

Lower cabin altitude to me would refer to the in-cabin pressure to be equivalent to say 7000 feet rather than 10000 feet so more comfortable for the punters.

Higher cabin pressure = lower simulated altitude.

Please advise me if I have been chasing too many parked cars peoples.

Wynsock, correct weight !:)..............where did they come up with that nonsense?.........anything less than 14.7 PSI (pressure at G/L) means some sort of neg effect on humans. So in saying that the cabin ALT press being lower is better?......sheeeeeeeeez give me a break !:bored: We`all know that you would need around 9PSI +(diff between the cabin press & the ambient outside air pressure) to maintain a S/L cabin at say 35000 ft. Anything less than this for Eg. means a higher actual cabin meaning less ability to transfer the oxygen to the blood stream & ultimately a lower sat rate (saturation rate). Obviously it's more about press rather than quantity of O2.

Besides pressures above 9 PSi for Eg would result in greater fatigue for the airframe. I believe the B787 uses elect motors/compressors to increase the press rather than robbing it from the engines alone.

Might just be in the wording anyway:)

Hi 'oz'.......it's not so much quality of air that matters, well might be if there was a leaking No 3 bearing which in one of the A/C I fly would result in smoke in the cabin it's more about the actual pressure of the air we breath. Reducing bleed air means reducing pressure such as in a failed pack, that's the enermy:)

Sounding like ML trams???...if I heard anything like a ML tram whilst airborne I'd think we would be finished !

I think it had more to do with the airconditioning than cab pressure. Higher recirculation ratio uses less bleed air to run. I think I have that the right way round. Anyway the rub of it is recycling more stale air in the cab equals poorer air quality which in efffect would also equal a higher perceived cabin altitude.

hey "amos" I too am at a loss as to what 'grouter' is on about, I hope the word 'enermy' didn't touch a nerve !:) probably the wrong choice of words there I think. I meant the 'enermy' being the insidious nature of hypoxia caused by lack of O2. Yr right there also Ozbus the ratio will have an effect on air quality. How long can you hold yr breath?:)

Maybe QF will let the pax have less air, that way they achieve two things for free ! One being the pax will be sleepy/doppy:bored: & require less food/assistance & the other being the engines might get better fuel economy, cheap buggers !:}
