I am doing some research on Jetstar…looking for help with the questions below…….all help much appreciated!


Where are Flight crews based?

What is the Pay package?

roster pattern / days on, days off per month / night-stops per month? (short haul)

Time to command

Any other pertinent points / facts

Prune is hardly research. Ring Jetstar, and obtain copy of the eba (preferably the proposed eba with f/o pay adjustment)

These questions pop up every now and then, a search will provide more info as well...

Flight crew based in MEL, SYD, HBA, SEQ (BNE/OOL), CNS, NTL, ADL, AVV, CHC (NZ) and yes, soon to be DRW and PER.

Pay - Capt clear around 9 - 11k per month (sometimes more) and FOs around 5-7k.

No overnights, 10 RDOs per month. Not much consistancy with days on vs days off but 4 on 2 off 3 on 3 off 5 on 1 off 3 on 2 off with reserves in there too is fairly typical. Very much depends on base as well...

Time to command - 1 day if you have previous jet time! Current fleet of 27 (with the latest arrivals) and around 400 pilots, 108 airframes on the way (including the 40 options) so time to command is limited by sim slots, time on the aeroplane, training captain availability etc.

Previous jet command i assume you are referring to. So no DEC but no seniority with regard to command. Is that right?

its hard to know since quite a few airlines (emirates,cathey,jade) are over here every few months with roadshows / and doing interviews...

if i may ask are you currently working at Jetstar?

watch this space, JQ pilots are just about to recieve a new eba which i'm sure will be voted down by 90% of the pilot group (that should tell you something)

If i were you i'd wait until this is sorted before making a huge decision in coming to aus working for JQ.

What are competitive times and how hard is it to get the right to work there?

Mr Hat, if you have previous jet time (Fo time is fine) and you meet the minimum hours, they will (or have been anyway) wave the 2 years at Jet* requirement. There are a few DECs and lots of guys getting commands way out of seniority that have previous jet time. I don't mean this to sound like a bad thing, there is plenty to go around! Somebody has to fly these new planes right?! Newcrew, yes JQ pilot.
