helicopter survey seismic

hello,
I gone have a job of airborne operator for survey from helicopter with magnetometer system (in africa mainly).
I would like to know the risks of such job (is it dangerous?) and have informations from pilots who did such job?

Survey flying is dangerous yes. Its low and fast, but fun, and you have the risk of connecting radio masts/ towers, birds, trees and it gets hairy in the mountains on windy days.

Fixed wing survey flying gets done at about 80m agl @ 140kts.

Turbine aircraft are mostly used for survey flying so its makes it a bit safer from a reliablility point of view.

It obviouisly depends on who the operator is that you will be working for. Most of these operators have very strict health and safety requirements to meet to get the survey contracts. The crew are also very proficient generally and receive alot of training.

The systems on board won't fry your jewels or brain! :ok:

Hi there,
To set record straight, Geophysic survey is an amazing job. It brings back the basics of flying Helicopters.
You don't fly 1,5 to 3 meters AGL but 200 feet AGL for the helo and the system is 30 meters AGL at 50 kts. :bored:
