speedslive dont rely on them. Just focus on what you are doing and goodluck maybe you get golden call from them.

zonnair
8th May 2008, 08:15
Indeed.
Don't just focus on Qatar. Of course it would be nice, but this way you'll never get a job.

Never bet on one horse. (Not sure if it is an english phrase too.)

@ Hikmah; I did the assesment the 8th of March in London and after the interview we talked with one of the captains downstairs while waiting for a taxi, he confirmed that they were also looking for some people for the A300 fleet and I think he was flying the A300 as well.

how can i apply in qatar airways for cadet pilot program?

msian1147
9th May 2008, 06:00
sorry 4 da l8 reply...i've been a little bit busy...well it is true that they still have 1 more A300 but u guys r more likely to go 4 the A330 or the A320...heard that some pilots r leaving...dont know what their reasons are...maybe due to the soaring cost of living in Doha...im starting to feel the pain in the butt regarding the cost of living...going out with friends to watch movies n hang out at malls would cost me more than 100 riyals...in one night....SICK!even Riyadh n Abu Dhabi r wayy cheaper...

MMS

msian1147,

Thanks for the info, can i ask you about rent rates in doha, like how much a studio or one bedroom apartment would cost in doha in a decent area? im not looking at a very posh area......
i am asking because i know that rentals have gone sky high... any info would be great.

thanks

:ok:

msian1147
9th May 2008, 13:55
a small apartment could minimally cost u about QR 10,000. if ure comparing to kuwait n bahrain, doha is an expensive city....but the good news is, employees will be provided with Company housing on a shared basis...or maybe an allowance of QAR 12K or more per month in lieu of housing..based on my findings, most pilots would opt for the latter...

ohh another thing, the rent rates keep on rising from time 2 time...it's ridiculous....

MMS
9th May 2008, 14:34
msian1147,

your right, the prices are ridiculous, i mean, i thought london was bad!
but thanks for the info.....:ok:

msian1147
10th May 2008, 09:58
haha seriously London is wayy better than Doha....no wonder the rate of attrition among pilots in QR is higher than EK n EY...

MMS
10th May 2008, 16:28
london has its ups and downs, and so does doha, i have been to doha twice and its a small (very small) place, all the nightlife is underground and hidden (whatever nightlife there is) and it can get a bit mundane, but on the other side, i guess you could describe it as a small and serene city...and its got some nice countries to visit within 2 hours flight time...

speedsalive
10th May 2008, 16:34
lets hope we hear somthing by this week guys!!!!

msian1147
10th May 2008, 18:21
well i would agree on that MMS...doha is a nice n small city...gud place to raise families...u cn always go to Dubai n Iran...

MMS

TZZ
11th May 2008, 12:49
a friend who works there told me.

speedsalive
11th May 2008, 15:07
can anyone else confirm this??

MMS
11th May 2008, 18:20
in my opinion, just because someone has a friend working in the airline doesn't mean that the information which they pass on is the correct one. heard of chinese whispers?

the recruiting of pilots is no joke, it is a task which HR mangagement and pilots deal with. Unless someone has PROPER inside information that second officer recruitment is complete, then they should not say it. If i know someone in the Qatar airways' despatch department or IT depratment, how the hell would they be a reliable source of info as to when a second officer recruitment is complete??

Those who have not heard from qatar airways should not be disappointed yet, i called up the airline and spoke to the HR secretary who checked my name on their remaining list of possible S/O employees today, and was told that i will hear from them very soon......thus, they have not forgotten me, and neither accepted nor rejected me yet, and the same goes for all those who have not heard yet from Qatar.

reliable sources of information are worth posting on here, not amateur unreliable posts!!

msian1147

speedsalive

Keep us all posted

12th May 2008, 17:15
No news from them...

I have a question, for how long the cadets of Qatar stays as second officers? Someone told me that the s/o only do communications in cruise...!
Maybe I have a wrong idea of the second officer work.
What's the real difference between be a f/o or a s/o in Qatar?

Thank you for the replies.

There is not much diffrence between f/o and s/o except salary and an amazing syllabus to be a good f/o.

you all know that you have to fly 124 sectors incl check ride as s/o, a sector is for ex : DOH - AUH or DOH - JFK.

1st fife sectors for exemple you help with the radio in the third seat.then ten other sectors you take controls as f/o right seat at 10000ft in climb and give back controls to f/o at 10000ft in descent. ten other sectors , take controls at 10000ft down to DH, the captain will land with f/o in third seat. then for exepl sim check for currency. back to the a/c, take control in climb and the captain may let you land depending on reports for exemple .

ten other sectors, you take off.

ten other sectors, you taxi and take off , might land??????. depending ???.

ten others , you start the engines , taxi.................. and so on.

Amazing ?!?!?!? isn't it??

4 last sectors , check rides.

figures are ruffly ten ,sometimes 8 , 12 ,16??????

VHHH Closed
13th May 2008, 16:21
You go to the type rating after an air law and a human perf exam then you come back to Doha, I know that QR has got a Cat D Sim which is approved by QCAA for 7 take offs and landings including engine failure, snow and slush and low visibility approaches and landings........... it s called ZFT i think .!.!.!

So the hardest part is when you come back from type rating, you spend appro a month on ground before going onto line, A/C walk around, Fire and Security , Ditching and ETOPS . . . . . and a lot more

when the 124 sectors are achieved, the flying will then be as F/O on line training for about 60 hrs, means flying will be with a type rating instructor and someone qualified in case of an incapacitation, cause the F/O won't be rated yet at that time, unless QR juges that she can remove the releife pilot at some point in the line training, then you might fly with a TRI only.

when released by a TRE, the hardest part comes, you do your job, follow the rules, nothing more and nothing less. Anybody can be replaced just like that in QR.

I am really sorry for the pilots whom got the rejection letter, wish you all best luck.

flightperson
10th Jun 2008, 13:02
Rude shock or a pleasent surprise, i don't know what to call it! Are they not supposed to tell us during the interview that we could be flying Cargo as well?

Also for salary 9900USD - 500 USD = 9400USD. how much more could we get adding up meal allowances? i mean will it ever touch 12k or more?

You guys think I could request for a change of aircraft from A300 to 330 or 320?

I heard they training guys on A300 to later fly boeing 777 ( yoke similarity!)

MMS
10th Jun 2008, 15:41

im in exactly the same position as you, not only that, but im currently flying a boeing heavy a/c as an f/o.........they could have utilised me much better i think.

11th Jun 2008, 08:02
MMS,

i think i was expecting too much, you are type rating & already flyin, I am simply a cadet pilot! any ariplane on earth will do for me as long as it flies & I get paid to fly one!:O

I got a f/o position on the A320 but im currentley on the A320. I was hoping for the A330 but the A320 is cool.

jalways
11th Jun 2008, 16:29
I personally think that the 320 is best because we'll be able to complete the 120 sectors faster than the cadets of the 330.
If I'm wrong please reply.

DN

cochise
11th Jun 2008, 16:43
You are right! The 320 is the work horse fleet. Lots of sectors in a shorter amount of time. This means that you will complete your 120, move on to an FO position and start working off your bond and 5 years before the other fleets.

hi guys,
Well I applied for this programme while I was in process of getting my fATPL. I got a response in early Jan that I should get back to them once I have my fATPL in my hand. Thanks to our so call CAA (Pakistan) I just got my fATPL. I know its little (rather quite) late, but do I have any chance of getting in?
Is QR expecting another batch of S/Os soon?

Thanks

msian1147

john321
19th Jun 2008, 07:28
I dont know who came up with the requirement for second officer for Qatar Airways.

They ask for ICAO licesne and then they ask for written ATP to be done. This is only Jaa system. In Canada , there is no such thing as Frozen ATP. we work based on CPL. ATP is only for people who are going to become commanders...............
