JAA to Canadian

A friend of mine emigrated from the uk to Canada last year and is loving it. Made me think about it. Has anyone got any experience of converting a JAA licence to a Canadian one? I have looked at the other threads as to job prospects, I have 3000hrs and am currently working for a UK company on the A320, would that be enough to get me hired? How difficult is it to get Canadian citizenship/the right to work? Any comments on quality of life stuff?
