Does anyone know what the airfield is 105nm south of Madrid? It looks either military or a new airport.

Many thanks

If this is the airport in question...

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Ciudad+Real,+Spain&ie=UTF8&ll=38.861231,-3.979797&spn=0.076992,0.127373&t=h&z=13&om=1

the correct answer is... New!

From Wikipedia:

South Madrid-Ciudad Real Airport (also known as Don Quijote Airport) is an airport (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airport) currently under construction in South Ciudad Real (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ciudad_Real) (Spain (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spain)). When it becomes operational (in 2007 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007)) it will be the first international private airport in Spain. The investment has a budget of 1,100 million euro (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euro).
The airport will have a single runway (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Runway) (11/29), 4,000 m (13,123 ft) long and 60 m (197 ft) wide and will service national and international commercial flights (regular and charter). Part of the installations will be dedicated to private and sport flights, and it will have an area for maintenance, an heliport (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heliport) and an industrial zone of 10 kmē.
It will also be the first Spanish airport that will be accessed via the AVE system (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AVE). Its capacity is planned for a maximum of 2 million passengers.

'South Madrid' - 105 miles south of Madrid - must be a Ryanair 'Madrid' airport:)

Suppose they could also call it the "Northeast Cordoba Airport" or the "North Granada Airport." That would be only slightly more silly... :uhoh:
