Quick one.
Easy conversion MPH to m/s windspeed ,and vice versa?
Thanks

1 mph = 0.45 mps

So (roughly) halve your mph for mps, and double your mps for mph?

or the way I remember it, 1 m/s is 2 and a quarter miles per hour

Many thanks.
My local airstrip website gives actual wind in mph and next day forecast in m/s so 2:1 will do for that.

Or, 0.5 m/s = 1 kt
5 m/s = 10 kts etc.
5 m/s = 1000'/ minute (Easy to remember and very useful when you fly a Yak or similar )

All approximate, but good enough

1000'/minute.
Not very useful if you fly the Cub!

Double or halve it for an approximate number.

I assume you're checking the forecast on the web, or not?

Neat trick: Just type "25 m/s in MPH" in Google. Or any other conversion you'd like.
