It's official, Cessna has won the bid and will rename the Columbia aircraft to Cessna 350 and the Cessna 400.

Will cessna continue developping their NG cirrus killer ? Or did they just bought it ?

I think there's a strong chance they'll continue with the 'Cirrus-killer', I can't see them suddenly dropping all R&D on it.

Wonder what Piper is up to, if anything... Waiting for its product line to reach commercial obsolescence, and then close the shop?

Cessna via CPA sent an e-mail to all members,

yes NGP is still being persued however they are having issues setting up the correct airframe/engine combo.. (there is even talk of it going into turboprop development)

all colombia models will simply be 'rebaged' from the 4th Dec onwards with prouction remaining (for now) at the Bend facility

its also true the 162 is to be built in China by shenyang aircraft.. no idea how that will turn out.
