Yes done deal, I'll bet my rent to buy house on it!!
May even get 747-400 to be getting on with first. After trashing the A346 seems Airbus are not that popular!!!

How many 777 does EY have, I thought they only bought 5 but yesterdays gulf news said they have 7?
I bet boeing would give them one hell of a discount on ordering a fleet of 747-800's cause they aint selling like hot cakes are they.............

2020 Hmmm...! Is this when the housing will be ready? Now that's a plan!

By then the Jumbo has cleared 50 years of age....747-800 will not be new at 2020, and A350 XB will treated like an A320, looking for a cargo conversion.

No worries, EY can hardly succeed in having 30 planes in flight line at the same time.

Wondering if the A340-600 incident in Toulouse wasn't on purpose....

They couldn't have crewed this aircraft anyway....

Pilots forced to take their mandatory monthly OFF days on lay-overs..... wonder how they do that... flying 11 to 12 days in a row, what a nice life, can't wait....

Maybe that's the reason for keeping a few "more than 12 hours" lay-overs.....

Life is getting better every day.

Jet interviews coming up as well as Korean.... Yeepeekaieheheheheh

We will need an A380 or 747-8 at some stage for routes to London and Sydney – the order could go either way,” said Hogan

In other words, how can we play boeing vs airbus and get the cheapest price possible?

My money is on the a380... Airbus are making offers that the middle east at the moment can't seem to refuse!

And no, i'm not starting a boeing vs airbus debate :ugh:

Why would EY want the 747-8 when its already got the A380 on defered order?

Ah, it's all smoke and mirrors to take away the pain of a sick offer to buy back leave at an insulting price, late roster publication and late leave for 2008.

Be nice if they dealt with the basics first then went plane shopping.

Suppose there won't be a bonus for all the hard yards put in this year.....

Cash rich but poor on skills with the reputation to match.

EK has pretty much bought out the A350 until 2015 or so....No 787s nor 777s available for a very long time. A340 is not cost effective...so...what's left...747-800

Maybe EY will get the 747 as they may have no other choice.

Mustapha why do you ruin every thread with your childish drivel!
Go to the Kiddies corner!

As for 748 and EY........nice idea but cant see it ever happening.
Hogan and Co get far better deals (wink wink) with Airbus.
The chance for big Boeings was available long ago and the company blew it because of their greed and inability to plan ahead.
Its been said before, EY is only ever going to be a second string airline in the Gulf they will never compete with EK or QR.

From the FliteGlobal (http://www.flightglobal.com/articles/2007/11/30/219977/etihad-readies-fleet-plan-up-to-2020.html) article,
Although it is introducing leased A320s for its intra-Gulf and Indian routes, Etihad will choose between the A320 and 737 for its narrowbody order.
To something new on CNN (http://edition.cnn.com/2007/BUSINESS/12/06/boeing.replacing.ap/index.html) today:
SEATTLE, United States (AP) -- Boeing will decide on a plan to replace its popular 737 aircraft by 2012 at the latest, a spokeswoman told The Associated Press Thursday.
Last year, the company started seriously considering a successor for the 737, for which Boeing has won more than 6,000 orders since its 1967 debut.
Sandy Anger, a Boeing spokeswoman, said the company "must ensure it has the right set of breakthrough technologies in engines, aerodynamics, materials and other systems" to top the 737's efficiency.
Anger said Boeing estimates it will be ready with a replacement for the 737 "sometime in the middle of the next decade -- give or take a couple of years."
The 737 competes with Airbus' hot-selling A320, which went into service in 1988. Toulouse, France-based Airbus says it has sold more than 5,500 A320s.
I wonder what is really going on and if there is a leader!
