While Maastricht is known to be on the leading edge of new ATC control and display equipment, the VHF quality is sometimes lousy. I especially refer to Coastal sector freqs 136.465 and 134.705 where you guys sound like you are transmitting from inside a submarine. It is not only me, but there are many "say agains" and "you are unreadables".

Any comments?

Leading edge? They do have CPDLC, if more aircraft were equipped then things may be better?

threemiles,

Thanks for the feedback, mate. I have noticed an increase of 'say again' in the Coastal recently. Those channels are provided through remote Tx / Rx located at Eelde and Bremen. We have had some problems at the Bremen site recently.

Not sure if recent experiences are linked to this. I'll table it with our relevant guys early this coming week and get back to you with whatever info that throws up.

Problem dates back many years. The remote sites are not under Eurocontrol control and the problem is convincing the national administrations to do something about it
