Just a heads up for a date in the diary for next year. Kirkbride Airfield, Cumbria will be holding it's annual Open day and Fly-In on the 20th July. As usual all comers are more than welcome either by road or preferably by air. The event is as usual held in association with Solway Light Aviation. Dont want to give too much away at this early stage but 3 jets are already arranged to turn up, an aerobatic display or two is being worked on and if everything goes to plan we will be hearing a Merlin engine or two.:cool:
As usual contact for the event is through John Plaskett on 01697 342142

Just a quick update, the bad news is that despite having funds available the BBMF will not be sending any aircraft to this event this year. However we will have the following on the airfield on the day (all being well).

Pitts Special G-BIRD
Isaccs Fury
Yakovlev Yak-50
L-39 Albatross
Jet Provost x 2
RAF Hawk (fly-by only)
Sokol Kraguj

I was going on the metcheck 14 day forecast, which at the time was forecasting 26 degrees and sun! however it's down to just 22 degrees now with sunny intervals. :)

I dare not interpret this early trend to arrive at a forecast for the actual day...:)

Just a little bump as this is happening on Sunday, looks as if it will be a busy day. As for the weather forecast (cough cough) well as least its an improvement on this week and it should be dry all day!

A very busy day was had by all, in total between 50 + 60 visiting aircraft with over £2000 raised for the Air Ambulance:ok:

Great picture Chris :D 1st airbourne picture of her I've seen with the gear mid-retraction.

Pity the planned display was somewhat curtailed, but the Hawk was very impressive. A great day out nonetheless- we hope to be back for next year's event.
