From News.com.au - Breaking News

TWO people have been killed after their light plane crashed onto the Stuart Highway in the Northern Territory.

The charter plane was en route from Western Australia when it crashed about 20km north of Elliott, north of Tennant Creek, just before 11am (CST) today.

Local police are directing traffic around the wreckage, which is blocking the Stuart Highway, the main road link between Alice Springs and Darwin.

Heard from a friend that it wasn't a charter but some German tourists. Either way not good news.

20 KM North of Elliott (Where the ABC reported it) is Newcastle Waters with a 1000 metre runway and 3 km from the highway.
