Have a question for you pilots - Was working as CC at Virgin and one day the Captain rang through at TD and said there was going to be alot of Noise and vibration but nothing to worry about. So a few mins later after what sounded like the flaps extending - the gear was extended. We were all like what the hell? are we like about to land? And then it was retracted again, the flaps were then put back up and we carried on a normal decsent, gear down and landing. We landed into Mel and the Captain had gone before we could ask him what was going on.
?

Why not ask the Captain at a later date...as in after the rest period?
You will only get speculation here, which many times is well wide of the mark.

Noise and vibration during descent, "sounding like" flaps.

Spoilers.

Gear Down shortly after TD

I normally find that gear down shortly before touchdown reduces the noise rather than the increased noise associated with the gear down after touchdown:hmm:

Yes spoliers were used however, as I said we were still very high and the pilots droped down the landing gear for a little while, then put them back up and carried on............
