...that is solar powered and does h\m\sec ? I've tried everywhere but can't find something small to go into my flight bag.

I'm to lazy, and accident prone, to add my flying time together lo-fi.

Why don't you do it on an Excel spreadsheet. ??

That recognises Hrs Mins and Secs.

Then you can have a backup to your logbook as well (which I would have if I ever remebered to update it).

Any form of iPaq will do the job - not solar powered I am afriad, but they are rechargeable.

I last two calculators I've had to buy (~1 year ago and before that about 5 years!) were both WH Smiths bog standard scientific calcs, Casios I think, and both solar powered - both IIRC did time calcs!

Don't worry about solar power - get a standard Casio Fx83, you'll have lost or broken it long before the 10+ years it takes for the batteries to go flat. Less than £10, available all over the place, and will do hh/mm/ss calculations quite happily.

Still using my old Texas TI-35 Galaxy Solar which has given good and faithful service virtually every day for the past 20 or so years! The only worn key is the DMS DD key.

Just log decimal! ;) makes it much easier!

If the calculator doesn't handle hours/minutes a work around is as follows
Problem - add 1:55, 1:35, 1:45
Solution - using the calc enter 1055+1035+1045
Result - 3135
To this add 940 repeatedly until the last three figures equal less than 60
ie 3135+940=4075+940=5015 Answer = 5 hours 15 minutes

Hi,

The following thread has a link to an hours/min calculator which I downloaded a while ago. Now I just log the time in my paper logbook and do the maths when I get home.
http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.php?t=125985&highlight=calculator

Also, you'll also find electronic logs books (of various sorts) on pprune. Just do a search and select the one you are interested in. Most/all of these will work out things like total time, P1, P2 time etc just by completing the boxes correctly.

Cheers,
