View Full Version : AEGEAN-CRONUS AIRLINES: Another management's trick

Last month all pilots have been kindly "requested" (see obliged) to sign voluntarily an agreement for 15% pay cut due to the well known to all worldwide situation. The reduction would be in effect from 1st Nov 2001 to 31st March 2002 and covers all kinds of pay. Now the year end bonus is about to be given and according to our info will be also reduced by 15%. However, the bonus according to our 2001 pilots-company agreement is the average pay of the last 6 months period. In other words the management will not value their signature!!!! AEGEAN-CRONUS PILOTS WAKE UP! THERE IS ONLY ONE SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. LET'S FORM A UNION TO CONFRONT THEM OTHERWISE OUR FUTURE WILL BE DARK!!!!!!!!!

From an ex Avionic Shed driver based in the UK you guys need a union and fast. Might stop the rouges like Lardis and Kouvrakalis ripping everyone off.Regards and a Very Merry Christmas to all the ex Avionic guys working in Aegean. Is Hellenic Star still in operation? Kindest regards to all!!! :D :D

Okay......you have problems with the fiendish ,maybe amaturish management. Also, you reckon a union is a solution....

A few questions and comments...
1) Why dont your pilots react to your claims? Are they brain dead or whimps?
2)Why in the name of reason dont have represention.?
3)Will a union solve the existing and future problems/
4}What is the main reason in your opinion a union does not exist at present?
5) It seems clear that your pilots need to be motivated to form a union, what is the kick in the ass they need to protect their rights?
6)Why dont you try contacting the pros in union organising,eg,BALPA, International federation of pro pilots ,etc....they can maybe help with their know how.

I appeal to all of you reading this thread HELP these guys, its the noble thing to do.

Happy Xmas

Actually, there is another union, much closer than BALPA, but do they have the "guts" to go there and ask for help. I say they should :-)
Happy holidays.

Andrea, do you mean EXPA? Just asking.. because as I know for more than a decade you have refused to accept Olympic Aviation pilots to your union.
If I was you, I would really look after the inhouse problems you are facing with OA and your future, because at least we might not have a union, but we acted united to a situation that has hurt most of the airlines, the ones who pay their bills and I mean Fuel, Taxes,Social Security and they are not under the umbrella of the tax payer.
Isn΄t it to late to remember us??

Andreas: Cpt Louloudis have expressed, I believe, all Greek professional pilot's opinion very nicely! Your union (EXPA) has ignored, in a flamboyant manner, all of us who don't wear an Olympic Airways uniform! Now you are challenging us to ask for help "if we have the guts"? Which guts do you mean? Can you be more precise? This is quite a change from the attitude of OA pilots which we have been accustomed to all these years. May be is because of the tough times your are going through. Anyway, I, speaking for myself, would like to proceed and become a member of EXPA if I understand that there is a new attitude which can help us all! May be a public invitation of EXPA's president on this forum would attract our pilots to join in. Lets see!!!!!!!!

What are your friends and collegues of the other greek operators doing (Elektra, etc.) ? Do they have a union ?

My dear friends! I do not represent anybody – as you do I suppose – and I am stating my opinion. First of all help does not mean joining the same union. I just said that you could ask for help from the existing unions, as to how to confront the challenge of a creation of a union! It’s easier not to make the same mistakes done before. As per your bitterness concerning the …”arrogant” attitude of the HALPA pilots, up to now, you have to consider the damage done by the letters sent to the press in 1986, during our struggle, stating that professional pilots are ready to fly even free just to make the flights that the HALPA pilots refused to fly!! And if you do not know/remember it, just ask some people who did live the situation!
Anyway. All this is the past. Our times demand for courage to unite the professional pilots in the common cause.
Happy Holidays.

Dear WHOKIE , forgive me, but dont tell me you had the impression that Axon could ever take over Olympic Airways, with the management you had.I am sure and I understand the difficult time you and the rest are going through, but take a walk to Kolonaki square, you will see few of your management with Lexus 4X4 drinking Capuccino, while you are trying to find a job.Lighten up, at least I did a year and a half ago..Good luck.

WHOKIE and dont forget, how few captains in Axon(X-air force) only by just naming the word Olympic, they changed colours and how bad they talked about O.A the drams they made hoping to get in their hands the steering wheel of an O.A plane. And you know what? Most of the pilots in O.A felt very bad for your job loss, in the other hand you guys wanted them dead or alive. This is the truth, I dont know how long you flew with Axon but I am sure you deserved a better future as the rest of the fellow airmen.

Gentlemen, it is a very tough period for all of us, especially for AXON's pilots. Lets hope that they will soon find new jobs. As Andreas said the past is over, lets see what we can do in the future! MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY LANDINGS TO ALL!

Is it, or is it not, the right time to start an Hellenic Professional Pilots Airline Specific Private Forum?
So that, we can speak in our language about our problems, our frustrations and anything else that we think proper?
Just a thought :-)

If HALPA is not able to represent other than OA pilots interest, were does the '' H '' stand for than??

Not in 1960, when the union was founded and there was no other airline in Hellas for the next 35 or so years!
Then it was too late to change the name.

YIA SOY Andrea! But that is offcourse not the answer.. Also in Holland the DALPA was only representing KLM pilots, but that has changed it has become a real national union and also represents Martinair, Transavia, Air Holland, ALM and Schreiner pilots.
If HALPA wants to become a real universal union something than it has to change her structure and naturally the OA-pilots should not see all other Greek airlines as a threat to their airline. Right now the Greek airline industry is very sick and companies abroad take advantages of it.

Hi Guys,
I just wish that you would get your acts together with regards to a union!!
When I had all the hassle with Avionic I tried to enlist the help of HALPA even to help out with a completely illegal and dangerous rostering situation however they just laughed at me and the crews problems. Got really pissed off it it all and headed for home however I miss my Gavros and all my friends out there in Glyfada.
Love to hear all that is happening out there in Greece as Athens is still very dear to me. Please keep me up to date via the forums or direct on [email protected] Kindest regards and Kali Nichta

All;

I don't know what makes pilots insusceptible to today's economic downturn. I recently took a $25,000 a year pay cut just to keep working.

You know what, I'm glad I did. Because in less than a year the economy will pick up and salaries will start moving back to reality. At that point, employees as opposed to employers will again be setting the mark for what is fair and what isn't.

In the interim, don't sign any long term contracts.
