night flying 90 day rule

Hello, can anyone confirm if FI's are exempt from the 90 day currency rule for night flying? We can't find any reference for it in LASORS so if anyone knows that then a ref will be great.

I believe all pilots are subject to recency requirements. Even if you are a senior instructor. Most will do a night flight with another pilot to regain their recency during the course of their normal employment. So it is not like you will be out of pocket unless your work for someone that makes you pay for it.

Its the IR rating which makes you exempt not the FI rating from that

It was a subject asked at one of the seminars.

The Old and wise stated that because a student is classed as flight crew not pax the 90 day rule does not apply.

So the flight would have to conform to normal instructional rules.

There is no excemption purely because of your FI rating. It's more of a interpretation of the rules. Which no doudt if you ask 10 people at the CAA you will get 11 different answers, and none of them will put pen to paper.

Where I work, each instructor does one solo circuit at the earliest opportunity after the clocks change. That means we're ok for 90 days, and the chances are we'll do the odd night landing over the winter to ensure we're current through til March.
