Call out Crews from standby - too stressed to come to work

Must be catching as more & more ground staff are suffering from STRESS...........!!!!!! Could be they are in too close a proximity to aircrew ;)

So if I don't have it, am I causing it :) :) :)

do I take it that in your opinion icons cause stress or that I am receiving stress from them but don't realise it?

It says here in my dictionary,

STRESS - force; urgency; intense pressure; importance; that which bears most weight; violence; strain; emphasis; accent.

Today's competition is to select from the list above those which don't apply to Ops/Crewing. :)

What are you all talking about?
Waco you're not old yet.

The people you're dealing with are not worth getting stressed about, they only shout louder because they think they need to. They are only failed Ops blokes after all.
Remember, if flying was difficullt ops blokes would do it.

lol, dumbduck please oh please share your wisdom with us, promise no bickering :)

For those interested how's about this!
------------------
What is Stress?
Stress is simply the body's non-specific response to any demand made on it. Stress is not by definition synonymous with nervous tension or anxiety. Stress provides the means to express talents and energies and pursue happiness; it can also cause exhaustion and illness, either physical or psychological; heart attacks and accidents. The important thing to remember about stress is that certain forms are normal and essential.
---------------
The following are tips on how to maintain a healthier lifestyle and to prepare you to cope with the stress of everyday living.

1.Structure each day to include a minimum of 20 minutes of aerobic exercise.
2.Eat well balanced meals, more whole grains, nuts, fruits and vegetables. 3.Substitute fruits for desserts.
4.Avoid caffeine. The substance may aggravate anxiety, insomnia, nervousness and trembling.
5.Reduce refined sugars. Excess sugars cause frequent fluctuation in blood glucose levels, adding stress to the body's physiological functioning.
6.Reduce alcohol and drugs. These substances may add to headaches and swelling, decrease coping mechanisms and add to depression.
7.Get a least 7 hours of sleep nightly.
8.Spend time each day with at least one relaxation technique - imagery, daydreaming, prayer, yoga or meditation.
9.Take a warm bath or shower.
10.Go for a walk.
11.Get in touch! Hug someone, hold hands, or stroke a pet. Physical contact is a great way to relieve stress.
----------
So when the next pilot comes in the office, showing all the signs of being stressed out, before you tell him to get some sleep, go for a walk, hug them - then duck http://smilecwm.tripod.com/net2/smileyshot2.gif

and there I thought I can offered all an insight into the causes of stress, and you brand me a 'sick puppy' :)

To me stress is what you make of it. I just prioritise, but at the same time make it feel as if each query/call etc etc is equally important. If the person interrupting your train of thought thinks that their problem is being dealt with, they go away contented. Where's the stress in that.

So that aside, what superhero do you want to be today to deal with all those problems?

I think you should direct your comment to one individual - dubduck - as that person seems to only have a one track mind = bickering.

I have no desire to enter into, as you rightly put it, slagging match.

I did feel that a bit of light hearted numour may go towards relieving all those who feel that the job is too stressful!! I for one have never felt stress at work only out of work, or am I just kidding myself?

Have a nice, stress free day, and look no icons, seems to upset the masses!!

Hello Dubduck

"bicker" to bandy words - to move quickly and lighly -

Collins dictionary

Whats wrong with ops and crewing types
bandying the odd word, comparing our stress levels and generally comparing the degrees of our "lowly status".

now forgive me if I find this rather strange but as recently as the 27th July you seemed to know where the caps lock is located, but not today http://smilecwm.tripod.com/net3/finger.gif

I can only assume that you are not far enough up the food chain to be capable of long-term memory. Try the key that has Caps Lock written on it - seems a good place to start.

Stress. Its what us pilots try real hard to give to you. We thought you liked it. :)
We have a number of ways of increasing this magic thing called stress. Below are some examples.
1. Don't be available on the mobile when we said we would and we are on standby
2. When you do get through to us moan like hell and spend the next 10 minutes arguing about how we can get out of the duty
3. When we have to accept the duty find 27 reasons why we a) need another day off b) are out of hours or c) can't do the next 5 duties
4. Divert to another airport (for any reason you like)
5. Break the aircraft enough to cause a delay
6. Break the aircraft enough to cause a diversion
7. Break the aircraft enough to get a nice little nightstop followed by a day or two somewhere hot (our favourite, and something we try really hard for, but only works a couple of times a year we find, or you lot get suspicious).
8. Calling you to tell you we are not going to that crap diversion that is listed on our plog, but to another one, further away, where you have no personnel to deal with the punters (and oh dear, I can't quite hear you now on the HF, we'll talk to you on the ground)
9. Do a runner before said punters realise they are stranded for 3 days with no-one that speaks English

And YOU complain!

:) :) :)
