request for Travel advise

Fellow Ppruners;

I am going out to Urumqi (URC) China, to do some motorbiking along the old Silk-route for a couple of weeks (starting next week)

I got the shots, the Visa, the international drivers License and the name of some Hotels along the route I think i got a fairly good handle on the climate and the riding terrain.

Is there something major that I should know about, such as: carry your own Cognac they don't have any, or some other basic pointers i should know about.
