Recently as I've become more experienced in handling OSFC's Supercub, I've been flying into farmstrips, and I'm trying to visit as many as possible during my CPL hourbuilding. One I've wanted to go to solo in the Supercub (having been there before in a C-152 taildragger with an instructor) is Chilbolton.

However the published telephone number for PPR - 01428 723966, both on UKGA.com and I believe in Lockyears, connects me to a couple who inform me that the previous owners did indeed handle said PPR, but they moved out 3 years ago and they wish people would stop phoning up about it!

Would appreciate any assistance anyone can offer on this - a quick Google & Pprune search revealed nothing helpful.

Many thanks,

Hobbit

PS. If any one wants to suggest farmstrips/grass fields near Old Sarum you can get a Supercub into, please do - have been to Wing Farm, Craysmarsh, Popham & Compton Abbas (I realise the last two are a tad longer than normal farmstrips, but I thought it best to visit them first!). Intending to visit Eggesford, Lundy & others.

It may be that the nice guys in Boscombe or Thruxton may know who the current contact is, only because arrival and depatures from ChillyB normally contact one of the 2 mentioned units first. I would imagine that they occasionally have the need to contact the Chilbolton management on occassion too.

Lower Upham and that farm strip on the north side of the M.3 east of Popham.

The Chilbolton Flying Club website http://chilboltonflyingclub.co.uk seems to have been revised last year, so I presume that the information there is fairly current. The PPR contact number given is 01276 6915636. Phone numbers are also given for five of the committee members.

I see that there's a barbecue there on Thursday...

Not a testing place for a Super Cub but Yeovil (Westlands) is always worth a visit during normal working hours.
