Hi all,

Well it seems as if I might be heading to Poland on a cheapo weekend soon and I really would love to take the opportunity of hiring a SEP while I'm out there.

Has anyone got any idea of a club near Gdansk airport? I've emailed the airport information directly but I've heard nothing, I imagine because I wrote it in English! I've tried to get some info through the trusty google-method but keep getting stumped when everything comes back at me in Polish!

Any help is much appreciated.

try here (http://www.poltran.com/) to translate text to/from Polish. Should work close enough to be understood by either end.

Slightly O/T:

It's almost impossible for an online translator to translate an understandable piece of text from English to Polish due to Polish grammar.

You can get free translations at: http://www.polandpoland.com/forum/

Ah, I see the translator was less than perfect!

As it happens we have just hired a Polish girl at my work... I have a feeling her first job is already in place!

Isn't life perfect sometimes!

Hi,

Although I’ve never been, I understand that there is a flying club (aeroklub) in Gdansk. I only know this by searing for AN2 photographs on Airliners.net!

The internet has very little information about GA flying in Poland.

I’ve rented in Warsaw before. I flew a Wilga from there!

Have a look at this… http://www.aeroklub.gda.pl I know it’s in polish, but have a look at the ‘kontakt’ page for a phone number and the ‘Linki’ page – There might be some useful links there.

I hope this is some use?

Kind regards

Thanks for your help Grob... It just so happens that my new Polish friend in the office called the aeroclub you mentioned on my behalf!

Although I only understood the words "Cessna" and "Piper" she eventually finished the call and explained to me that the club will not hire out to private, non-club members and they have no facility for providing a temporary membership...

The guy did explain to her that there is a club somewhere 300km away that would possibly hire out to PPL holders, but he wasn't sure... goes by the name of adriana if anyone has any dealings with them?

It seems as if GA flying in Poland is fairly elusive and even after finding a club they are not very open to foreign pilots... Shame really.

The search continues.
