Spotters doing the job of Peel Police and the RCMP...what about CBSA border control and the Toronto ETF ?

I think this is insane...

I'm sorry, but how is this insane? To me, it doesn't sound like a bad idea. Its not as crazy as some of the 'security measures' that are put in place at the airport. And how is this group replacing the cops? That's like saying that a Neighbourhood Watch group replaces the local cops and there is no need to patrol the streets. Its a group of people doing what the like to do and helping out in a small way. Relatively harmless. Or don't you like your picture taken when you wheel that big plane around onto the runway? :p

Only if i miss it and end up on the grass....or the fast exits after landing...;)

I think I posted to stimulate discussion - the point is this - it would be highly effective and more professional to have hi-tec cameras placed at strategic intervals around the perimeters of our airports, along with authorized security patrols - like most major airports elsewhere...rather than having spotters in shiny jackets noting down activity which may be not be suspicious at all...But of course, this is a really cheap way of doing something...

Whilst it gives the spotters lurking around Airport Road an additional seeming credibility, we also have as a stark contrast peeps like myself submitting to the increasingly anal nonsense dished out by some CATSA/Garda whatever screeners on our way to work....
