Im getting a lot of request from friends to take them up flying, site seeing, some want to take pictures of there houses and other things.

I contacted transport canada to inquire the details needed to transport Cargo, People and such. Now this seems a little bogus, in order for me to fly people in my own plane to a destination or transport any sort of cargo i need to be setup as a commercial carrier.

That said, there is like 10k in fees and about 6 months waiting time. Plus they stated i would need to hire a pilot that has atleast 1500 hours to operate a a chief pilot and a full maintenance mechanic to work onsite.

Are you serious? Seems like whenever i talk to transport i get this type of run around.

I have a simple non high performance airplane, multi-engine which i would like to transport the odd package here or there and sometimes transport people from destination a to destination b.

The plane is fully insured and has 6 total seats.

What to do, am i really out of luck here?

thanks for the help

Hi amber

Start here:

http://www.cta-otc.gc.ca/air-aerien/licensing/docs/domeng.doc

Then here:

http://www.tc.gc.ca/CivilAviation/Regserv/Affairs/cars/Part7/703.htm

It really is a hassle with a lot of paperwork if it's a small operation.

Call your local flight center and explain your situation ask them if they would be interested in a power by the hour lease arrangement. put some restrictions on it and see what happens
