Is EO2 used during low altitude ejection? I have a niggle that it is when there is a high forward speed.....

Would appreciate any help....

Not necessarily used but on most MB seats it is turned on as the seat leaves the cockpit. Many different seat types however.

EO2 is automatically turned on when the seat rides up the rails. In a LL ejection, the man/seat separation occurs instantly (plus a small delay whilst all the gubbins works and another small delay if you are above 9000 but below 10000 feet to prevent an excessive shock to the parachute when it opens) and the EO2 cylinder falls away with the seat.

So, yes you do get EO2 in a LL ejection but only for about a second (which is enough to take one big suck as you cr@p yourself).
