Hi everyone

I was flying a AS350 today and itīs been awhile since last time.

On the center pedestal there was a switch marked in French and I can for the life of me not remember what it does.

Itīs on the bottom right. Next switch to the left of "float release". Anyone know what it is?

It's most likely that Hydraulic Self Destruct Switch, then watch another Squirrel bite the dust.

I dont remember the word! Just a bunch of letters scrambled together that made no sense to me so I assumed it must be French :)

But "Mirror heat" it is. Thanks wiisp :ok:

Nah. French actually makes a bit of sense.

It must've been one of those rare POLISH squirrels:

One of our Polish Rotorheads went to renew his CPL(H).

First, of course, he had to take an eye sight test. The optician showed him a card with the letters:

'C Z W I X N O S T A C Z.'

"Can you read this?" the optician asked.
"Read it?" the Polish guy replied, "I know the guy."

:ok:

Here is a little video of our flight today with pictures of the switch.

Nice day for flying. The aircraft is a 1999 AS350B2 owned by Northair Inc in Iceland.

Just on the left of "float firing 1&2", you can read in french: "degivrage retroviseur" which translate in " Shakespeare" language means "Mirror heating" as said wiisp.

Actually I was doing training for AS350 type rating renewal on the guy in RH seat :) I thought it would be a good idea to know what the darn switch was for in case he would ask :\

Been awhile since I flown the B2 (3yrs) only flown the B3 a very few hours last couple of years.

Yeahh... its a tough job, but someone has to do it :p

Aesir:

I notice their are at least 2 Icelantic posters on this thread.

What is the size of the helicopter industry/fleet in iceland?

It's a beautiful country a place that I would someday like to visit.

Hi-jacked...

The Icelandic Coast Guard has 2 Super Puma's L1 and 2 Dauphin's. I believe one of them is an old N while the other is N2.

The Helicopter Service of Iceland has a Long Ranger and a Schweizer 300C.
Air North has a Jet Ranger, a Dauphin N and an AS 350B2.

My company has one Schweizer 300C.

One nice looking Rotorway Exec in flyable condition and I think there is at least one more hidden somewhere in a garage in Reykjavik.

There is an AS350B3 here on the G register owned by an Icelander, G-ORRI, and has been flying around here this summer.

10 Ice registered helicopters and one Rotorway :}

I confirm it means "mirror deicing".

So typical from eurocopter, everything in french. I remember being in Marignane for some new 332s, delivery was delayed by 2 weeks due to labels not in english but french !!!

But this is a common mistake from customers, check well your aircraft before accepting it. Most of the time people are so in a rush for the delivery, that they forget to check small things like this...

It is for the rear vision mirror !!

It means check your 6. Possible stalker warning !!

Make sure no one is following you when you are mucking about .....up there !!

10 registered helis (+ rotorway) doesn't sound much until you realise that is in a population of 300,000, vs the UK with 1100 helis in a population of 60 mil.

Not bad at at all! :ok:
