Two of the houses were reported to be on fire.
The aircraft, thought to be a Cessna, is thought to have had two people on board.

The incident happened at The Preserve at Lake Monroe, Sanford, about four miles from Orlando-Sanford International Airport.

Diane Crews, the vice president of the Orlando-Sanford International Airport, said officials could only confirm that it was a Cessna 310 that crashed near the Central Florida Regional Hospital.

The 310 is a twin-engine plane that is often used as an air taxi and for private use. It seats six people, including the pilot.

She said it was unclear if the plane had just taken off from Sanford or if it was trying to land there when the crash occurred.
