Does anyone know why DUB 1, yes the SP, was orbiting over Mull this afternoon, low level, then made a few approaches to Peterhead International, Longside before returning to Hamburg?

At a guess, probably doing the same thing as the Saudi B747 last year. Its a perfect place to test the new EGPWS.

A Virgin 747 did the same thing a Land's End a few years ago to test out their GPWS. Lots of low level orbits and running in at the cliffs. This was followed by a fly-by and numerous noise complaints along the lines of; "That's not a Cessna!" Impressive to watch though. Photo's still on the club house wall there.

Cheers!

If it helps, whilst working on my roof, I watched the a/c do a couple of go-arounds at Prestwick, sorry, Glasgow Regional, yesterday afternoon. Looked cool.

Sorry to bring this up again chaps. Was told about the story earlier on and had to do a search. This sounds like it is a bit of a wind up but obviously not. But why on earth did the Dubai Air Wing pick Longside Heliport (Peterhead) for 'circuits'......

Can imagine the locals talking 'aboot that jumbo making a affa din over Peeterheed'. Why pick a heliport where you can barely get anything larger then a single down on to do simulated circuits???

And finally Longside International. Any other good jokes to share?

This is all VERY spotter-y. They lock people up for things like this in Greece, y'know.
