Hot Air Balloon Over London

[Three Yellows]

As I drove into London along the A40 Westway at about 6 am this morning, I could see a hot air balloon, which looked like it was over the City. Despite all the bad weather recently, it was a glorious morning first thing and presumably ideal for ballooning.

Anyone have any knowledge.... was it really in the zone? - I'm not saying it shouldn't be of course! Just curious... not what I expected to see.

Quite possible it was in the Zone, they operate under a set of rules that allows them to get airborne early in the morning and be outside CAS by the time it starts to get busy.

Caveats include carrying r/t and a transponder!

Ah, that's where Heathrow Director was. 120.4 disappeared between 06:30 and 06:45, leaving it all to the guy on 119.725. Personal ATC for the balloonists, prolly ;)
