Just wondering if anyone could help with a big query. I am after as much information as possible on the Avon 200 series engine that was used in the Lightning. Web links etc would be very much appreciated.

I've got a bunch of data on various models of Avons on my web site at: http://jet-engine.net (under military turbojet/turbofan specs).

I haven't had much chance to update the database in the past year or so, but the Avons haven't changed much in that time period ;-)

I took an axe and a sledge hammer to a load of them once to ensure they would never run again....... Thats the RAF for you, they were being scrapped and had to be disabled prior to despatch, so we smashed the compressors and the cases......... Sigh :sad: seem to remember there being about 10 as well as some Hunter versions....
