I was talking to Lowrance at the Aero Expo 2007.

He mentioned that there will be new model coming out to match the Garmin 496, but, he was very reluctant to give any more information.

All he could say was that it will be very similar functionalities to 496 and at a half price.

Anybody know any more information on these new models?

Thanks
Ponniah

I hope it has decent base map, ATZ and MATZ (All lacking in the 600c), but has the superb sideways on airspace view (the one thing I miss upgrading to a Garmin 296).

You can get a better basemap - at least I assume you can, since you can for the 1000. Mine cost something like $100 (bought along with the unit in the US).

tim, your talking about the freedom maps.
Lowrance don't do a combined freedom map + terrain card for the UK.
Which means that the 600c looses it terrain information if you have the detailed base map card installed :ugh:

Ah. You are doubtless right - the 1000 doesn't do terrain.
