Gentlemen,

I got offered a job involving the above mentioned rating...but it seems to me the 330s aren't around much anymore, everybody seems to be going 332 these days, at least when it comes to offshore jobs.

So what is the community's opinion? Go for it or wait for something better/more commonly used to come along?

Sounds like Helog. Mayby reconsider the offshore market where you get paid while getting a free, but bonded typerating !! Sudan is not a happy place.

Mmmmmm ....

Depends on the job ... the SA 330J is an EXCELLENT aircraft ... and if you have the typerating and some time in that class of aircraft you will find the conversion on to the 332 very easy ... AND any prospective employer will look upon you with glad eyes ......

If it is not likly to be injurious to your health (?) Etc go for it`...you WILL love it.

As said above SA 330J is an excellent work horse. If your contract is to fly above the seas, somewhere in the pacific or Persic gulf, keep in mind that you will not be harassed by flying hours. But you will provide ice cream, eggs, brooms, pony etc... to sailorman really happy to hear of you.

As soon as you are type rated on SA 330, conversion to 332 L1 is peanuts. L2is a different bird.

If the company offering the rating is Helog. Be careful!
Then, there are not too many 330's around in the civilian marked, so it won't help you all that much in the future, besides the medium-twin-hours you get. The a/c is similar to the AS-332C1, the short Super-puma as it is basically an upgraded 330 but two diffrent type-ratings in the license.
A much better bet if you want into the off-shore scene, is that you apply to the serious operators and get the 332 rating or instead.
