I've been in Tokyo for the past three weeks with customers, but the customers' boss was meant to join us yesterday on BA flight 007 out of Heathrow on Tuesday 22, arriving Narita Wednesday 23.

He didn't arrive. He was apparently sat on the runway in the plane at LHR for eight hours (!) before it was decided that ``the steering'' couldn't be fixed. I only have the story from the customers who are with me, so quite a lot could have got garbled in transmission, but we had to scrub the meeting (the rest of us fly back tomorrow, so there's no point in his coming out).

Any clues as to what happened? Eight hours sat on a runway sounds a bit extreme!

8 hours sat on the runway ah?

That's going to destroy the movement rate at LHR.

It got the holding point and then went back to the stand, with unspecified tech problem.
