I've been a passenger on the Malev Budapest-Dublin flight several times in the last few months, and they always make a strange route change when they get close to Dublin... I was hoping someone here would know why.
When the flight gets within say 50miles (best guess) of Dublin it makes a sharp 90deg left turn, approx 5 mins of level flight, and another 90deg right turn before landing straight in. It looks very strange on the passenger moving-map.
Can anyone enlighten me as to why this is done? I've never seen this sort of major route correction on any other flight.
