hello...

regarding the 900 hours limit for the year....

is it counted on the 12 months basis i.e june to june ?

or

counted as 365 days...i.e like first flight on 10/june/2006 to 10/june/2007 ?

and if any one can give me an official reference for this...documented ref.

thanks

That should be defined in your Ops Manual?

in the ops manual ... the max annual flying hours shall not exceed 900 hrs.

it is not very clear.

A year is 365 days (but of course 366 in a Leap Year). But if you are that close to your 900 you need a convenient mathmatical error or a bit of correction fluid. Then you change job and get some proper time off, after all you should have enough experience doing 900 hours a year and you'll need a break!

The 'Year' is calculated from whatever date to the day before the same date the next year. So if you did 10Hrs. on 1st Jan 2007, whatever your total is on the 1st. Jan 2008 would not include the 10 hrs the year before becuase it has 'fallen' of the end so to speak. It is a revolving total and the 900hrs limit is from now backwards to the day after this one last year.
I hope that all makes sence.

Agreed,

Its calculated the same as the 28 day, 100 hour limits.

Kuwait,
It may very well be calculated differently in different states but the "daddy of them all" the UK vesion, is calculated only on 12 occasions each year - at the end of each calendar month. If at the end of any month your total exceeds 900 hrs you cannot fly in the following month.
Some states allow re-setting the clock at the end of a calendar year. I believe South Africa may operate this system. Ireland also allows at least one of the carriers (Ryanair) to do the same but Aer Lingus doesnt.
You will have to check with your Authority to get the definitive answer - it may already be in their legislation. Try looking up their rules for AOC holders.

i think you may have made an error there

It really depends on where you fly or want to apply the 900h limit. In germany for example its counted per year starting at january 1st with a clean slate, whenever you exceed 900 hours in that year you have to stop flying commercially until next january comes around (which can happen as early as august).

The reference for UK law is the Air Navigation Order, Section 1 Part VI, Paragraph 74 1 (b)

(1) Subject to paragraph 2, a person shall not act as a member of the flight crew of an aircraft registered in the UK if at the beginining of the flight the aggregate of all his previous flight times:
(b) during the period of twelve months expiring at the end of the previous month exceeds 900 hours.

It then goes on to talk about exceptions in paragraph 2.
