My grandfather was aircrew during the war. Were photos taken of RAF aircraft as standard. It would be great to have a photo of one of his aircraft. He was a Wireless operator/air gunner (WOP/AG) on Wellingtons with 429(Bison) and 432(Leeside) Sqns RCAF. I have a list of the aircraft he flew but again I have no idea where to start.

And another Question. Can anyone tell me anything about 28 EFTS at Mount Hampden in Rhodisia during 1945. My step-father was on course no. 45 there in July 1945 flying a Cornell. What is this aircraft?

Cheers
Col.

Col,

The Fairchild Cornell was an open cockpit, monoplane primary trainer. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairchild_PT-19 for more details. Its name continues the RAF WWII tradition of giving trainers names related to Universities - Harvard, Yale, Oxford, Master, Magister, etc.
