Apparently the Etihad Recruitment Team are heading our way tomorrow evening and settling in at the Movenpick Hotel.

Road Show to be held Wednesday May 2nd from 9am onwards but no confirmation as yet that the venue will be the Movenpick.

Best start blowing the dust off the Resumes and Logbooks. Nice to see that someone is "very" interested in us.

See you all Wednesday.

The career website for EY only shows the 3rd to be an open day for Cabin Crew. Confirm it will be for flightdeck also?

Having just got off the phone with the Etihad Head Of Flight Crew Recruitment I can confirm that they will be holding a Road Show in Bahrain on May 2nd for Gulf Flight Deck Crew from any fleet and the venue will be the Bahrain Movenpick Hotel.

Sorry Qatar but whilst AB and his regimented regime is there I'm hoping I'm heading Abu Dhabis way. Also when it comes down to living in either Doha or Abu Dhabi and the lifestyle they each offer there really is only one sensible choice having visited both and its in the UAE.

Seems all airlines around are seeing the benefits of talking Gf Flight Crew.
The new COO has to come out with somthing gud on the 2nd.
otherwise no plan will work without the guys in front.
Minibus leaving GF premises at 1000 Lt.will take crew around.

Something regarding to allowances and salary would be welcome. There is nothing else that could keep us at the aicrafts's front row...

I think you got the wrong person or an imposter. EY Head of FC Recruitment has relinquished the position. All the ass licking and bad behavior while in power got the better of him.

I was told they would be at Movenpick all day on 2nd. The previous postings refer as it will be the 3rd. Somebody has more info. I wouldnt like to shorten my thai holiday by one day for nothing.

Proof that even when you don't fly you suffer from jetlag.

My apologies to my colleagues. The date should be Wednesday May 2nd Movenpick Hotel.

Hi guys, i do confirm from pilots in Etihad that in addition to the cabin crew there will be a team from the flight crew recruitment department in Bahrain and they will be holding an open day to talk to all pilots interested and all you need is to show up and enjoy the show and see this is the place to be:D . I have to say they are straight forward and honest. Its worth passing by and i think a lot of pilots would prefer to be in Abu Dhabi than Doha...thats why so many Qatar pilots are applying and joining Etihad and not a single one the other way. Anyway i think the gulf air pilots deserve to have a good life and stability and Etihad from my piont of view is the place to be. See you gulf pilots in Abu Dhabi soon i hope. Good luck.

Dear Moderator, thank you for reopening this thread!
Yes, I am sure the thread originator (Gulf Course) had a good reason to close it:*

"its a hell of a lot better than what you currently have." :ouch:

Interesting comment Firbolgs....happy to know that you have found Tir Na Nog. Go n-éirí an bóthar leat!
It might come as a bit of a surprise, but some of us actually do like Gulf Air and enjoy living in Bahrain,....it all depends on your perspective I suppose. So GF 'boys' favourite airline, maybe for some and I wish them well.
One last thing though, would you kindly take some of the whingers over there for us so we can get on with it...

Slán go fóill amigo ;)

Today was the first day of the Etihad roadshow at Bahrain and the total attandence was around 130 and they gave similator slots to the interested ones (almost all of them june). So far they are getting only 7 DEC to boeing, a limited number of captains to the A330/340 and all available F/O`s regardless the type. Sorry but they dont plan to hire any DEC 320 Captains at the moment:ouch:

Does anybody have any news from the pilot meeting, or did everybody go to the EY roadshow instead?

I think the whole of bahrain knew about the EY open day. There was even an article in the GDN about something of the sort. You not knowing about it doesn't equate to only a selected few being aware....

From what i understand, the pilot side of things by EY was a last minute reaction to the QR arrival...QR are actually conducting interviews and sim evals (in our sim) as i post....think EY got 200+ cabin crew and heard EY booked many pilot interviews in AUH, June time frame...EK on the way...I am planning to stay here at GF...wonder if the others know something I dont???

It is like a flock of vultures circling over GF HQ trying to get as much of the carcass as possible. What a great example of bad management by GF. You reap what you sow I suppose. Judging from the two e-mails today it looks like Dozy and Naff (how appropriate) got the shock of their lives yesterday. New salary package on the way before the end of this month. The phrase "too little too late" springs to mind. The month of June will be very interesting since 100+ pilots will be looking for days off to go to AUH. A lot of sickness I suspect.

Exactly Jack
Dozy and Naff, 2 of the 7 dwarfs? Hi Ho Hi Ho......hurry hurry.
I think the shock has registered and although its only been 3 weeks the sense of urgency to retain your pilot core should be a priority.
Come on, replace the batteries in your calculators gents you might be pleasantly surprised by the reception if your answer matches ours.

I am just a little bit off topic here, but during the same days I went to the Qatar Roadshow, and surprise: yes lots of GF drivers were there. Every 'cast' was represented from the young A320 FO to the A340 Training Captain with 20+ years in GF, amazing.

The best I think was to here from M. Naff on the same evening that they had a 'list' of bad pilots who are 'always' sick to be fired (Mr Naff I have an advise for you: try to understand why these guys are always 'sick' and then you might solve one of our big problem in Gulf Air : Rostering / Crew Planning (...)). Great sir! By spilling so much uncertainty on our careers and families you will end up with an airline with no pilot to fly your aircrafts. Maybe could you also go and fly them yourself !(You will see reading these 20 pages of MDDs take quite a time!)

What a bad PR from our new management. Even if I appreciate M. Naff effort to communicate with us. But how do you want people to buy your crap? You ask us basically to understand that we are ahead of difficult times (again!) with downsizing (the only airline in the gulf to do that!) and no salary increase (We have been listening to the same crap for the last years)... When in the same day we have been offered at least 2 jobs with more than double the money in a better environment...

THIS IS A NO BRAINER !

And guess what when the meeting was finished the other night I went straight to the GF sim for assessment with Qatar, and I couldnt believe it! Strange times ! And I had no intention to leave GF but with all this crap now it is a whole different story.

You want to increase the 1970 old school allowance and the housing allowance: this is NOT ENOUGH, you need to bring our BASIC salary up to standard, or a massive exodus will happen. We need hard money in our pockets or we will get it from somebody else (call him sheik ahmed or almaktoum).

See you, in Doha or Abu Dhabi or even Dubai. When is this Emirates Pilot Roadshow by the way ? I heard Cabin Crew had one recently in the now famous MoevenPick Hotel (who is a Swiss hotel company by the way...) but when are pilots interviews scheduled in bahrain?

Good for you Boeingdriver, hope the sim check went well. I have grave doubts about what the new salary offer will be. In the past we were expected to get really excited about 3% or 50BD on the housing. That won't work anymore since the EY offer is at least 1000 to 1500BD more. As you say a NO BRAINER!! A parachute under every seat :D

AXED Gulf Air (http://www.gulf-daily-news.com/Story.asp?Article=180829&Sn=BNEW&IssueID=30042)flight crew will be offered positions with rival Abu Dhabi-based airline Etihad, the GDN has learned.

A well-placed source at the UAE carrier yesterday said the airline was prepared to take on all captains, first officers and cabin crew who lose their jobs as part of Gulf Air's streamlining efforts - brought on by financial losses running at $1 million (BD378,000) per day.

The source said Etihad's management had given the green light for the recruitment of all crew deemed surplus to Gulf Air requirements.

"Management have said: 'Just take them'," said the source.

"They are qualified, they are good and we do not have to spend money training them."

They added that qualified staff were at a premium in the aviation industry, with many airlines forced to scour increasingly remote parts of the globe for cabin crew.

The sudden availability of staff familiar with the region and capable of doing the job was described as a rare and welcome opportunity for competing firms.

However, the source revealed Etihad would not take any more than those axed by their competitor in a bid to keep relations between the two firms cordial.

"The instructions are not to take more than Gulf Air gets rid of - they do not want to hurt Gulf Air," they said.

Any offer of employment by Etihad would likely come as a relief to those who will leave Gulf Air under the airline's plan to cut its 6,000 workforce by 25 per cent.

Announcing a strategic plan titled Making Gulf Air Well earlier this month, new chief executive Andre Dose said the streamlining of staff and loss-making long-haul routes was the unfortunate cost of restructuring the airline.

The airline's deputy chairman Mahmood Al Kooheji said those most likely to lose their jobs were expatriate cabin crew.

If former Gulf Air employees do make the decision to join Etihad, it will mean a reunion with former Gulf Air chief executive James Hogan, who now occupies the same position for the UAE airline.
