Some good news in this day & age of usual despair.
From June 1st - 30th Sept, EBOS will be offering 50% reduction on landing & take-off fees as well as pax taxes for "pleasure planes" below 6 Ton MTOW.
(Min charge 5 Euros per landing & 5 Euros per take-off)
This will apply every Friday through to Mondays inclusive.:D
As I have had to pay extra to fly in Belgian airspace, I shall make the most of this offer.

I took advantage of a similar offer last summer and am glad to see it revived.

There is a regular and cheap bus into town from the airport that stops at the railway station if you want to take the train to nearby Bruges. Ostend itself has many restaurants - we had a good lunch on the prom down near the casino.

Only 1Euro 50 cents on the bus each way and great food too. Just a shame you get such an odd look when you order a Fanta to accompany the lunch:{

An excellent initiative, and consequently I hate to carp, but...

Take Off Fees ! :*

Good grief. OK, 5 Euros is nuppence at current exchange rates, but that's not a precedent I like to see. :=

Hate to tell you this DaveW, however, an Int'l Airport I once worked for over here made a Runway charge - not a landing fee - actually you're charged on departure.
Where I fly from at the minute has introduced a charge for "movements" and I had to query their interpretation of a movement.....turns out it included touch & go's although had not been explicit between arr. / deps or both.
Basically beware and question charges - airport operators are running a profitable business - or so they hope.

Ostend's a great airport - efficient and friendly - and the town's got some good shops and restaurants and a nice beach too. Think of the Take-Off fee as a discount on the landing fee if you crash and write the aircraft off while there.

3 of us flew into EBOS on Sunday (26th August 07) in a PA28 from Shoreham (EGKA) and took advantage of the special landing fee offer. The total we paid was 22 euros which included everything - landing, parking for the day, transport across the airfield (and back again) and takeoff. That's about the same as a Shoreham landing fee or (as recently introduced, and rather controversially) a Shoreham go-around fee (if the pilot elects to go-around - ATC instructed go-arounds are free).

All the EBOS staff we encountered, especially ATC, were exceptionally efficient, helpful and friendly. The bus into town is still 1.50 euros and we then caught the train and spent the afternoon in Brugge (15 mins from Ostend/ 4.50 euros day return).

Checking back in was just as efficient through the crew route in the main terminal and we waited all of 30 seconds for the car back to the aircraft.

Superb outing and now wishing we'd spent the night in Brugge!

Excellent day.:D :D :D
