Triggered by recent discussions, I am very temped to ask a few questions, and sorry if they have been debated already.
1. Naively I would guess that more is known today about the engine reliability (eg GE90) than was known at the time the ETOPS rules were elaborated. If so, is the certification process being revisited? Would there be any point in doing so?
2. About economics. There is probably not much point in establishing a "huge" single-engine operating time, because this would require to carry more fuel to start with. So, what would be the max. economically interesting single-engine time e.g. on a 777?
