Hi all,

Do any of you know where I can find documentation wrt MSAWS radar capability for airports around the world? Which airports have them and vice versa?

I'm looking at the FSF CFIT checklist which mentions it and a quick search of Google and Pprune did not come up very helpful.

Thanks in advance.

The MSAW alert in Oz is done by software - TAAATS - radar position and altitude is projected using track and rate of descent/climb to determine whether the 1000 ft buffer will be infringed. Major airports around Oz have terrain calculated for 1.5Nm by 1.5NM squares.
Documentation - I believe this is internal to Airservices Australia.

Thanks topdrop.

What does MSAW actually do for you? Does it highlight an aircraft return or is there a aural warning? Or both?

We get a red MSAW warning in the label and aural alert. Centre click on label, cancels aural alert, but visual warning remaings.
We have 3 different aural alerts for different warnings - Short Term Conflict Alert and MSAW are same sound, whereas less important alerts like Route Adherance Monitoring are another (less important sounding) sound.
