May be planning a trip to Plymouth later in the year. Just wondered what the landing fees etc were like for GA, any tips etc.

Thanks for any help.

I'm a member of a PA38 group there. It's great. Helpful, friendly controllers, good facilities, fantastic surroundings.

See below for charging details - rest of website has other useful info.

You can pick up a hire car or taxi at the airport or a short walk (10 minutes or so) down to the hospital puts you on the bus network.

Was there last Saturday - very reasonable. Give them a call and don't forget, it's PPR.

Bargain. My plane falls into the £8.81 group ;) I knew it was worth getting a sub 1000Kg aeroplane, maybe I'll go there next weekend.

Do you also have to pay the PAX charge for light aeroplanes?

No pax charge either......unless of course you have a lot of seats!!

Nice people, but a couple of points

It is PPR, but they will accept you on radio contact, although a phone call before departure is always worthwhile as there may be weather issues.

When you land they are a bit hot on their restricted zone and you may need to be escorted to the terminal building.

On departure, you will need to go through the security zone in departures (empty pockets and such-like). A bit pointless, in my view, as you have the opportunity to do a lot of damage with a PA28 once in the air, yet they may try to confiscate a multi-tool you need for tightening screws and cowlings.

Apart from that, it is a great trip and fantastic views

Lucy, this used to really bug me about Plymouth (my fixed wing a/c is based there and I commute in from my home most days into Plymouth in my helo).
The restricted zone should only be an issue if there is a dash 8 on the stand.
Seeing as I pay them so much in block landing fees and hangarage I now have my own security clearance and swipe card and even leave a car within the airport perimeter so the hassle factor is no longer an issue - a pain for visiting GA pilots though I agree.

Glad you enjoyed your visit.
