Hello i'm an aviation student trying to search for the number of fuel tanks on a few commercial jets, such as 737, 747, A330, A340, DC9, DC10. Could anyone guide me on where to find such information? I've searched the net and these forums but can't seem to find the information. Thanks in advance.

For aircraft that have an FAA type certificate, look here....

http://rgl.faa.gov/Regulatory_and_Guidance_Library/rgMakeModel.nsf/MainFrame?OpenFrameSet

Select the manufacturer, then select the specific model, and the number of fuel tanks and their allowed capacity will be indicated.
However, if a specific aircraft has had additional tankage installed under an STC, the reference to the specific STC will provide this data.

Together with fuel tankage, other interesting data is also listed, such as maximum weights, design speeds, power plants, etc.

Much useful information.
