Just wondering whether anyone can give me some advice about places in Canada that offer both great flying & scuba diving opportunities... am hoping to do my float plane rating out that way but would love to get some diving done whilst I'm over there too... might be looking at a 12 month working holiday...

Any advice would be great :)

If you want both a beautiful and challenging area to fly and the best diving in the country you should go to Vancouver Island.

If it were me I'd go to Campbell River. Diving is great - try Abysal or Dynamike charters on Quadra Island. Parallel Aviation does seaplane ratings and 50hr courses. I hear they are ok but I don't have any personal experience with them.

If you want the best seaplane training I'd go to Ft Langley Aviation. But the diving around the lower mainland is soso compared to Vancouver Island although day trips around are pretty easy...

You might also want to try Tobermory area of Lake Huron in Ontario. It is fresh water, but probably the best fresh water diving in Canada. Very clear cold water with lots of shipwrecks. Area even supports numerous dive shops, decompression chamber. There will be several operators of float a/c, but not sure about recognized schools.

Tobermory is great for diving. You can get a seaplane rating at Orillia Aviation which is probably the closest floatplane school:
