Hi all, just wondering how many flying hours the average airline pilot gets under their belt per year?
I know the legal max is 900, however do any pilots actually get up to this number? Maybe the likes of Ryan air and Easy jet fly this amount, but how many hours can you get per year for other more "traditional" airlines (BA, Virgin etc). Also, are short haul pilots likely to do more hours than long haul?

Cheers, Badboy.

Other way round in fact. Shorthaul operations generate a lot of flights (sectors) whereas longhaul is more in terms of length of flight.

I work about 850 to 900 hrs per year on BA 747-400's...............:{

And about 800-850 on 757/767 with BA.......I believe Virgin are contracted to 750hrs on their jumbos.
