YYZ-YXU or even YGK would be a candidate for a similar type of operation rather than 7-10x puddlejumper but we don't have those kind of b@lls in Ontario.

WestJet, Air France and KLM Announce Signing of Memorandum of Understanding

16:35 EST Wednesday, February 04, 2009

CALGARY, PARIS, and AMSTERDAM, Feb. 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - WestJet, Air France and KLM today announced they have signed a memorandum of understanding to build a new commercial relationship between the three airlines.

This memorandum of understanding allows the airlines to begin working on building a code-sharing agreement in late 2009 or early 2010. Prior to this, the carriers will contemplate additional opportunities including an interline agreement, namely acceptance of each other's e-tickets, and through check-in of baggage and passengers, technology permitting. Possibilities for future frequent flyer program cooperation will be explored as well.

A code-sharing agreement would involve the Canadian gateways of Calgary, Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver where guests of the three airlines would connect with each other's networks.

This memorandum of understanding is another step in WestJet's strategy to increase connectivity, bringing additional travellers to its network as well as offering more access for its guests to new destinations.

Dr. Hugh Dunleavy, Executive Vice President, Commercial Distribution, commented, "We are very pleased with this announcement today. This memorandum of understanding marks the successful execution of the next step in our strategic plan. We are proud to have strategic partners in Air France and KLM who share our values and our focus on the guest. They will be excellent partners and will provide our guests with the opportunity to seamlessly travel across their networks."

For Air France and KLM, it is a great opportunity to strengthen their position in services to Canada and increase the number of destinations offered to passengers.

So passengers are "guests" now are they?

I thought they were "freight!"

Passengers on Westjet have always been called guests - and are generally treated as such. Certainly I always have been.

I thought SU was most likely, but all three (AF/KL, SU and OK) are in Skyteam, so it's not impossible that AF and SU could co-operate on a joint purchase.

In fact there was a very failed relationship between AF and CSA in the early 90s. The result.... AF got some good routes........ Vietnam, but dont hate it was an inside job the commies at CSA sold out, and lost the little long haul flying they has worked hard to get...... Dont be fooled the real player is who cuts the largest check to the commies..... right now the top runner is China...... Good luck......

Does anyone know the reason why Air France use an A320 on the twice daily rotation between CDG and TLV when it's most of the time overbooked? Wouldn't the route benefit from an A321 or bigger?

The A321 range is not as good as the A320 is one of the reasons.

I'll wake this thread up. Le Figaro (http://bourse.lefigaro.fr/indices-actions/actu-conseils/air-france-klm-va-s-allier-a-etihad-airways-79867) reports (French) that Air France-KLM is negotiating a commercial agreement and codeshare with... Etihad! That's a striking example of "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em"!
