Airspace infringment

One of our private hirers were told that they 'may' have infringed stansted CTZ by about 3/4 nm.

They do not think it was them. But if the trace shows it was, seeing as its one of the most infringed airspaces in the UK, what can they expect to happen.

They are mortified that it could be them so would like to offer some advice.

I would like to know what would happen to someone if they inadvertantly strayed into controlled airspace.

About 7 years ago i was a newly qualified 18 year old PPL holder. had only some 70hrs, and had the misfortune of infringeing the Luton CTR, due to detereorating WX conditions and low experience.
I wasn't speaking to luton in anyway as at the time i thought i was well south of the zone. But needless to say when i landed i had a phonecall waiting for me.
Was investigated, which included an interview from a CAA investigator. had my wrist slapped and told not to do it again.
The worry i had waiting for the verdict was horriffic... but at the time they were running the fly on track survey, and it was only then i realised how prevalent the situation was! www.flyontrack.co.uk

At about the same age, at about the same experience. I flew into Upper heyford USAF base and two F111's decided to play with me. I was in a C172, so knowing they met thier match they buggered off to safer shores.

Luckily for me, no-one told anyone and it's been a secret ('ish) until now.

On track is a great publication. I used it's info for my lecture for the FI test.
