Hi Everyone,

Doing anf Ifr Flight tomorrow however i will not be on an airway and was told i needed to make a point every 49nm could somebody please tell me what i need to include when i am including this point?

The point can be a dme distance on a radial, not sure how you write it on the flight plan you are filing though........good question, flight teat soon, better look it up

Station name, radial, dme. eg: SAM283035 (no spaces). The 283 radial at 35 dme from southampton or the former ADSON waypoint that was removed a while ago. You are right about the 49nm bit as well. I think it is a Euro control rule and your flight plan will get rejected if you don't have a waypoint every 50nm.

S+L and Potkettleblack are both absolutley right. Personally, I'd go for radial+DME from a VOR, using potkettleblack's syntax, as it's easier to plot on a chart. You could also use a VOR or an NDB.

Also worth pointing out that the points must be a maximum of 50nm apart. It doesn't matter if they are less than 49nm apart.
