Hey Guys, I Have a VA interview on Fri 27th July, anyone else on that day. Im really scared!! Has any one been on the asessment recently please can you advise me on a few things......:eek:

Do you have to do Euro and foreign currency conversions in the maths test?

and is it just customer service questions they ask you?

I am so grateful of some info, has it will calm my nerves.!!

Hi Jay Solo,

With regards to your 6 weeks training you get exams EVERY DAY and revision EVERY NIGHT the first week is not really that bad but by the time you get to SEP you will really need to get yourself into revision mode, it is not easy, some of the studying can mean reading up to 100 pages of information the night before your exam and if you get a weekend when you have got loads and loads to study be grateful for that weekend. Some people on my training course just thought they could wizz through their books and be alright in the exam but trust me, in some of the exams all it takes is a papragraph that might mean nothing to pop up as a question in your exam.

Tis no joke!!! I was doing 4-5 hrs homework & study a night for nearly 7 weeks & as Rubyrocks said, be grateful for your weekends & use them very wisely. It's not meant to scare you, there is just a hell of alot to take in & remember in such a short time. It is manageable though so you can do it!

The funny thing tho is when the trainers said "If you are studying more than 2 hours a night then there is something wrong!!!!" :eek:

OMG i was studying from the moment i left the base on my 2hr train journey home, once i got home would have dinner and then continue studying again until 1am. So yeah prob 5-6hrs for me of studying. there is just so much to take in it is unbelievable, but it can be done.

Another thing too, is make sure when you are in your exams READ THE QUESTION because the answers are so similar that it's just ONE word that has been changed

And traning doesn't end there Jay solo, because once your out online you have the lovely pre flight briefing questions to look forward to. not that difficult but i had a real toughie on my return flight back from St Lucia, when the FSM spoke about Survival........ Didn't i have to rack my brains abit:ugh:, thankfully got my question right but 3 CC and a CSS got theirs wrong and had to answer a further 2 questions each:eek:

Does anyone know if Virgin still do applying, where you call up their phone number and they send you out an application form. I notice you can do it all online now, and it is much more advanced than the one they used to send out. How has anyone here applied lately.

Hey Good luck on the interview. I had mine in June I believe my training starts in October, but waiting on confirmation.
First of all be yourself, smile and take notice of what is going on around you. Lots of eye contact. You will have a group assesment (good fun) Maths and english test, believe me I was rahter nervous about these, but just stay calm and read the questions. Be very honest and you will be fine. The interview team are really nice and friendly but very effiecent. Have fun.

Hey Guys, Is there anything us new ones can do in advance to help with the training, books reference material, internet??
Now I am nervous, having read about the training, I expected it to be tough. But I do like to be prepaired.

the training is tough but well worth it!... before it starts they will sendout a booklet/cd for the pre training learning as long as you complete that before the safety training starts then you will be fine!

Thanks for that, I have been into the library to see if I can find some info. I am looking forward to the training, I actually enjoy learning.........:D Is it worth looking at first aid stuff? How many people are in each group for training?
Re the uniform what are we supplied with, also luggage and bags, shoes etc.
Actually if anyone has info that would be useful to prepare and what I need to buy it would be great to have.

hey, okas far as uniforms go the only thing you need to buy are you tights and your main suit case which they want to be black and they suggest it is better if they are hard (less chance of getting damage). they giveyou 2 uniforms handbag, small wheely case gloves scarves... everything else you need... just be sure to break in your shoes before you have to wear them properly as they kill!!
in our group there were 19 of us so quite a nice size
as for the training... dont bog yourself down beforehand they give you excellent lessons every day with exams to check what you have learned the next day which you have to 88% or above... which you will do no probs as long as you do the study they suggest, if youre really worried it wouldnt do any harm to read over some first aid stuff beforehand but i really wouldnt worry about it!!
for the training they say it is smart casual.. when really they mean business attire unless they tell you otherwise the day before, just make sure youhave pen pad and highlighters and youre sorted!

Go to the virgin atlantic website, then press "Careers" on the left hand side. click the purple careers button to go to the Careers website. When there there will be a form on your right hand side, in the Job Type box select 'Cabin Crew' then press the purple search button.

The applications are still on there.

Still waiting on training date, and so far no security checks have been completed, so I am guessing it will be a few weeks yet before I hear anything. Just about to start swimming lessons hopefully, improvers as not the best swimmer in the world...............lol:)
So I need to stock up on tights:eek: (yuk) and get a suitcase. I think I will look at first aid stuff, just because I feel I am preparing. Got the rest of the stuff as recently finished HNC. Also need to find somewhere to live for six weeks training, anyone know anywhere cheap and cheerful mon-thurs.
Another question. What is the minimum age for Virgin? My 19 year old is planning on applying when she returns to this country in October.

I read somewhere that during the assesment day you have to do a role play, where you are stranded and have no IFE, so have to entertain the pax. What kind of things did you come up with?

And does the amount of people at the assessment vary? Because i read on an older post that there was only 8 at one of them. I thought that there would be like 30?!

Hi everyone, have been following threads in this forum for months, have just recieved my interview date for Aug 17th, am so so nervous. I have applied for the inflight beauty therapist job and would love any advice on offer. I know precedures etc change all the time so anyone with current advise on possible questions asked, what to expect would be great.

Teen, the group work varies. Each group is given a project, our project was to make a radio advert for a charity. This could be a real charity, or make believe. I think we were split into groups of about six, and I think there were three or four groups. We did a serious advert, though it was up to us how we approached it. It's a fun day, the interviewers put you at ease immediately. Good luck. :)

I really wanna join Virgin when i'm old enough.
I've gotta apply for college next year, is it worth doing travel and tourism for an insight? Or doesn't it really help?

I don't mean to add a question to every post i do. It's just i wanna be sure that i want to be cabin crew!

Hi Teen. The Travel and Tourism course is a good way of passing a year or two until you are old enough to apply to be cabin crew. The best thing you can do though is get some customer service experience, whether it's in a bar, shop etc, as that's what you'll be asked questions on at the interview. You'll be asked to give examples of various aspects of customer service you've given. Crew come from all different backgrounds. Some have degrees, some have worked in a shop, others have had part time jobs in coffee shops. You'll find the experience of working with the public invaluable when it comes to giving examples of various situations. :)

I've gone off the idea of going back to 'school' for another 2 years.
I think i'm going to try and get an apprenticeship in a customer service role, maybe a travel agents.

Oh no am i really all alone for my interview on the 17th????

Ok well maybe someone can help with my next question......i want to stay close to the base on Thursday night before my interview, just so i'm not rushing or in a panic about traffic etc. Can anybody advise me on where is best to stay, i know there have been other posts on this but which would be closest to the base making it minimum hassle to get to in the morning.

Also i was due to go on holiday this day but have decided to get a later flight as i really don't want to miss this opportunity, does anyone know the approx latest time i would finish?

SD, i sent my application 18th July, took 2 weeks and 1 day to hear i have interview for 17th Aug (one week today arghhh). So although some do hear quickly mine was a fortnight.x

If you have any concerns re refs then call HR. I was very worried as I start 8th October but cannot hand notice in at job until 23rd Aug, so last thing I need is work getting asked for a ref before I have told them. Need every penny I can earn before training. Was also concerned re a ref that I may have an issue getting. HR were very helpful and put my mind at rest.

Is there a time limit? Does it matter how you swim it? front, back, etc.
Not the best swimmer in the world, better when I have my scuba gear on....ha ha ha
