I am not trying to start any rumors but has anyone any info on what is going on at HMY? I heard back down to 3 a/c and that door closer is a possibility. I hope I am wrong about this as I know atleast 5-6 really good guys there and just hope that this is false.]

Here is hoping for the best!

So if they are going to shut down, why would they bring the former number two guy with Jimmy Pattison in to run the place? WS just looking for more seats the bloodthirsty way? No surprises there...

That's a good question. Why would they bring in a guy with no airline experience to run the place? :ugh: Hopefully this guy will do better than your last CEO, who coincidentally enough, also had no airline experience.

The owner and his family back in Hong Kong also have enough money to buy WJ and AC on the same day, with cash.

Their business plan is faltering, but who knows....

The point is, I hope they stick around, I wish them the best.

The only benefit that WS would see is improved yields to/from Hawaii and LAS. I have it on good authority that Harmony will be getting rid of one aircraft at the end of March as it is coming off of its lease. While this cannot be confirmed, another 757 is on a power by the hour lease and that is also being reviewed.

Well nothing in the media about it.

4 aircraft, down to three?, possibly down to two?

Shrinkage hurts. Indicates a trend certainly. Like taking a quick swim in the North Pacific this time of year.

The new interim CEO from Pattison, well who knows.....Pattison Group is fairly astute....they're in car dealerships and billboards and Jimmy is a billionaire. Nothing to do with aviation. So why exactly did what's his name jump ship after the former minister jumped ship?

No aircraft capable of doing the China plans...rumours about 787s a few years away....not a lot of sense as far as a business plan goes so far.

Harmony has been an airline with no niche.

For those of you that remember: it launched service with flights to Manchester; did the charter thing for a while; flew to PSP, OAK, JFK; contracted Voyageur (which generated terrible loads - even by CRJ standards); and has settled into what it is this winter - primarily Hawaii focused.

It's been trying to grow via codeshares but its hard to make that successful when its route network is so limited. The intention to fly to China is well documented but nothing has happened on that front in quite some time. With 400+ employees flying 4 aircraft on a network that has significant downtime, any reduction in fleet size has got to hurt its costs big time. As costs go up, profits go down or losses get bigger.

I wish the best for the employees at Harmony, if you have one thing right its the service you provide - second to none within Canada. :ok:

Rumors seem to indicate that Zoom has picked up an ex-Transat 757 from Harmony. Harmony will be down to three aircraft at the end of March. Makes you wonder what Zoom intends to do by picking up a 757? IIRC, HMY owns 2 aircraft and leases 2 - with one coming off of its lease at the end of March.

Zoom doing codeshare with Globespan( they have 75's) from the UK look for the Globespan meltdown thread either on Terms or airlines airports and routes pgs.
By the way 75-76 dual endorsements are the norm so not a strange move.

So the following rumors about HMY are not true?

1: HMY applied to Australian government to fly to Australia.

2: HMY looked seriously into buying Skyservice, but changed their minds.

3: HMY is returning both leased aircraft, not one.

Anyone herd about them?

1: HMY applied to Australian government to fly to Australia.

HMY applied and recieved approval to fly - on a codeshare basis - to Australia. In June 2006 they announced that they had partnered with Hawaiian to provide codeshare service to SYD from HNL and Hawaiian from HNL to YVR but that never happened.

This post from another forum about sums it up.

"Getting rid of 25% of your fleet (without a plan to add more equipment), dropping 35% of your routes, having your CEO quit unexpectedly, all in 1Q..."

Even the most optimistic would have trouble finding the silver lining in there.

It seems Dr. Ho (the largest shareholder) of Harmony Airways was pulled over by Vancouver City Police the other morning (05:30) on suspicion of driving under the influence. Two prostitutes were found in the car as well as 32 grams of crystal meth.

He was given a driving suspension of 24 hrs for suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs. No charges were laid.

Dr. Ho has not been available for comment.
