Hello,

Can someone please tell me roughly how much it would cost to train to be an ATCO, I've googled it, and searched the forum, but so far the only answer I've maged to get is 'a bit less than training for a CPL':confused:
Also, I know of NATS, are their any others?
Thanks in advance,
Matt

Drop an email to the person at the bottom of this page, (http://www.amsjv.com/baetraining/trainingcourses/2007.asp) should be able to give you an idea!

When i did it many moons ago the person to speak to was Ruth Webb at the college and the aerodrome course alone was about 10 000 pounds.
Hope that helps, good luck.

Last time I saw bills for these (2 years ago) they were approx:

Aerodrome (ADI) - £18K
Approach Procedural (APP) - £12K
Approach Radar (APS) - £18K

I suspect the prices will not have dropped, but I don't think they've gone up that much. None of this included accomodation.

Here in Germany it's about 50.000€ for TWR (ADI) incl. RADAR. For the APP-license it's quite the same. So, if you'd like to work in an environment without the rating split TWR/APP, in Germany 100k €. Quite hard....

Google ASTAC at Gloucestershire Airport and BAE Systems at Cwmbran, but Chilli's figures are in the right ballpark.

Dunno about ASTAC (in fact I wouldn't think you'll be able to train with them for a while by the sound of things) but the prices from Cwmbran about a year ago were, if my memory serves me correctly:

Basic: £3,820
Aerodrome: £11,425
APP: £8,970
APS: £14,695

All plus VAT, accommodation, other expenses etc.

Yeah, I think the BAE prices are online.

Does anybody know what is happening at ASTAC, rumours rumbling around are that it's in a very poor situation. I was under the impression that the new facilities at Gloucester were going to be a big improvement and everything was rosey. Not anymore...:uhoh:

A few changes of personnel at ASTAC, but the courses are very much up and running....one of my ATSA's is into his second week of the ADI course.

How much would it cost you?! Those are prices above.....they're not phone numbers!!!

ADI = £16050 + VAT (Inc the BTC element)
APP = £10010 + VAT
APS = £15345 + VAT

Allegedly, more than one airport has stopped using them, the woe continues...
