"Wing Commander Wilf Sizer, who died on December 22 aged 86, served as a fighter pilot during four major campaigns.
After flying Hurricanes during the fall of France and the withdrawal from Dunkirk, he was in action throughout the Battle of Britain. He flew during the north-west African campaign before leading his squadron of Spitfires in the invasion of Sicily."

A remarkable man whom I had the honour to meet on several occasions, the last just over a year ago. Unassuming, and reluctant to talk about his experiences unless pressed, he was still able to remember in great detail all the actions in which he was involved.
