Correction - I've just had a divert to BHX - RWY is being resurfaced and there's a slippy patch in the middle that my Captain mentioned is quite smooth and they had 'problems' controlling the aircraft on takeoff with the x-winds......It sounds like the Aurigny a/c hit this patch and exited stage left onto the grass!!
a/c moved off at around 1345 - airfield should be open soon - ATR-72 I think

Why has the word "issue" replaced the word "problem" in the English language?

ho! ho! - though since the Gatwick delays started before the BRS excursion I doubt thats the reason.......the first two delays were before the BRS flight left Guernsey, so something else was up......

Weather problems. Cross winds at Bristol and Gatwick are causing problems at both airfields, I surmise this was the cause of the ATR going farming at BRS.
It was interesting at Jer this AM 1000ft wind 210/40 surface wind 170/18 QNT30

The BBC (so it must be true...:} ) says the excursion happened while taxiing....I wonder if Bliar was onboard......

2 Tech ATR's at GCI I believe. Aurigny are using ATR42 G-CDFF & Titan 737 G-ZAPM today....

I landed at BRS tonight and it WAS pretty rough!!

I saw a (I think) My Travel 757 make a horrendous approach- it obviously got caught by a gust in the flare and 'wing-rocked' really badly. From my vantage point (in the staff car park) it could well have hit its No.2 engine or RH wing, it looked that low. It went around (thankfully)- did anyone else see it and has there been any further problems there? I trust it landed safely soon after.

No 757's left at MyTravel, must have been another carrier.

Could it have been a A321 or something? They look much the same and it was dark! The aircraft was moving quite fast, but it did look like My Travel.

Why has this been moved??

It has much more to do with News than it has to do with spotting

yea it Could well have been an airbus Stop.

i know MYT do use Airbusses. Evidently a 2nd ac has come off the runway now

Until the AAIB come out with what cause made the aircraft to do some farming we should not speculate.

Frome the pictures I have seen there might be some un reported gusts involved but I am not a met man.

So we should wait until the official report come out and see if certain ideas were correct?

Are you inferring that ATC at Bristol do not report gusts? If so, I hope you have evidence to back up such a claim!
A met man you certainly are not, but I shall ask anyway, why do you think that only gusts are capable of affecting an a/c?

It was a FCA 757 that nearly hit the wing when it got caught by some nasty gusts. I was at the holding point and thought they had it. I have never seen such a near miss in all my years of flying. Flight deck did a fantastic job holding it together and getting it to climb. They tried a second approach but about 4 miles out when they received the current wind check they decided to divert, good call.

Good question - Bliar's plane misses a Taxiway and its 'news' - now not just one, but TWO a/c leave BRS runway in one day and its for us mere spotters.......

No I was not refering ATC not giving gusts.

The ATR72 especially in a cross wind can be a hand full with a combination of things, like the narrow track undercarriage and the narrow wing it has

If the reverse was used on landing and little braking due to a possible wet runway? the nose wheel stearring would not be as effective as a normal day landing from what I understand so one would require braking to keep weight on the nose wheel.

When the aircraft is parked on the apron on a windy day the aircraft bounces around like a roller coaster this is due to the undercarriage configureation.

Until the report comes out it is all speculation from the not so expert ones
